What books are on your nightstand?
Funny you should ask...I have in desperate need of a bookshelf because I'm a book reviewer with an ever increasing pile of books. Most recently, I have "The Anonymous Lawyer" by Jeremy Blachman", "Beyond Peleliu" by Peter Baird, "A Day of Small Beginnings" by Nicholas Delblanco, "Spring and Fall", "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks, and "Magic Time" by Doug Marlette. There are too many others to name. But, one which I come back to is "Let Me Tell You Where I've Been: New Writing by Women of the Iranian Diaspora" edited by Persis M. Karim.
I am fortunate enough to have time to read many books at once. There are so many books I have read which range in genre, length, and impact that has something to offer. In a way, each is akin to a person. After I complete the book, I often remember a phrase or quote which turns into something more symbolic in my life. Some important works, in particular, have been "A Room of My Own'" by Virgina Woolf, "No Exit" by Jean-Paul Sarte, and "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks. As I said there are countless books. Each one adds something to me by the end of the story.
